Best Fudgey Pecan Brownies

Ingredients :
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • Chocolate Frosting (recipe follows)
  • Pecan halves

Preparations Method :
  • Heat the oven to 350 F.
  • Lightly grease an 8 or 9 inch square baking pan.
  • Beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla with a wooden spoon in a large bowl.
  • Add the eggs.
  • Beat well.
  • Stir together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add to the egg mixture.
  • Beat until well blended.
  • Stir in the chopped pecans.
  • Spread in the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the Chocolate Pecan Frosting.
  • Spread the warm frosting over the warm brownies.
  • Garnish with pecan halves.
  • Cool completely.
  • Cut into squares.


Chocolate Pecan Frosting

  • 1 1/3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp baking cocoa
  • 3 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

  • Place the powdered sugar and the cocoa in a medium bowl.
  • Heat the butter and the milk in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted.
  • Gradually beat into the cocoa mixture.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla and pecans. (Makes about 1 cup of frosting)

Makes about 16 brownies
