The Best Brownies Recipes Of The World

Ingredients :
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch pieces
  • ¼ c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2tsp. salt
  • ½ c. coarsely chopped walnuts


Preparation Method :
  • Melt butterscotch pieces and shortening in double boiler over hot water.
  • Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar; cool 5 minutes.
  • Stir eggs and vanilla into butterscotch mixture to blend thoroughly.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Blend into batter.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Spread in greased 13 x9x2" pan and bake in moderate oven (350°) about 25 minutes.
  • Set pan on rack.
  • While still warm, cut in 2" (about) squares (cookies are especially good warm from the oven).


Makes about 2 dozen brownies
